Answers
How do I organise my wedding photography?
Most couples select a shortlist of photographers whose style they like. If I'm on your shortlist, then here's the sequence of events I suggest:
- Check whether I'm available for your wedding day
- Look at my portfolio. If you're not local and you'd like more examples than are online, please let me know.
- Which venues would you like me to be at?
- Which parts of your special day do you want me to photograph - ceremony, reception?
- I can then give you an estimate of how much I will charge
If you select me as your photographer, then I suggest:
- We try and arrange a time to meet when you can inspect my portfolio and make a
detailed plan of your requirements. If you live abroad, then this is usually done via email
with a short meeting the day before your wedding
- I send you a booking form, with your ‘wish list’ of photographs and an outline of the
timings we have agreed
- If all is in order, you confirm your booking by paying a non-refundable deposit of 25%
- The week before your wedding, I make contact to assure you that I’m expecting to be at
your event, and also to update your instructions to me, in case anything has changed
- The wedding day! I arrive 30 minutes before my agreed start time at your first venue
- Within 4 weeks of the wedding, you receive your 2 sets of 9 x 6 inch prints (or 6 x 4 if you prefer, for easy mailing) and an invoice
for my remaining fee (75%)
- Once you have paid for your prints and confirmed safe arrival of them, I then send you the CD/DVD of .JPG images.
I'll also send a data DVD with the .RAW images. RAW images are the large files produced by professional digital cameras.
You will need a RAW filter for Photoshop in order to open these files. If you're not into digital photography you can ignore
this DVD. Just keep it safe in case you want a professional to retouch one of your files in later years.

How much are reprints?
As you will be in possession of the images, that will depend on where you get them reprinted. Good independent photo labs charge around £1.00 per 9 x 6 inch print.

If I have the CD/DVD of images, who owns the copyright?
I, Alice Jackman, retain the copyright. You have permission to reproduce your photos for your
personal use and for the personal use of your friends and family. For all other (e.g. commercial) uses, please
contact me for written permission to use the photos - there is usually a charge depending on the usage.

How soon after my wedding will my photos arrive?
You should allow up to four weeks. I like time to process the images, check them for
quality, and re-process any that don't meet my standards. If you have a particular time
constraint then please discuss this with me as I can produce proofs quickly if required.

When do I pay?
You pay a 25% deposit on booking and the remaining 75% when I deliver your prints. I then deliver your CD/DVD.

How much do you charge?
Please see my
Pricing page.

What equipment do you use?
I use Nikon camera bodies and lenses. My main camera body is Nikon's latest D300 12.2 megapixel digital body and have a D100 as backup.

Can other people take photos while you are?
Of course. I encourage guests who are not in the group photos to take their own photos - once
I have had the full attention of the group (no looking at the aged aunt on my right!). When everyone has got
the shot I will then set up the next group. You are paying me a fixed price 'up front' and as
I am not looking to sell your guests my photos - they are welcome to take their own.

How far are you prepared to travel?
There is no limit, I love to travel. You cover my costs at economy rates, and I am
even prepared to stay with friends or family near your venue if required. I've covered weddings
all over the world including London, Paris, Europe, USA and Africa, but as I live in the
West Country, most of my work is more local. For car travel outside my local area I charge
per mile to cover my fuel and time costs. I'll tell you at the time of booking if there is any mileage charge.
